Logo
The purpose of this project was to become familiar with the program Inkscape. This program is a vector graphic software program. The objective was to create a vector graphic logo. I created a logo for a hypothetical educational consulting company. Below is the image that I created through this introduction to Inkscape.
I designed a logo for a fictitious educational consulting company. To me, education is all about making light bulbs go off, so I decided to place a light bulb in the logo. To create the light bulb I used the circle tool and filled it with yellow. I created another layer and used the polygon tool and filled it with grey. I placed the circle above the polygon to approximate a light bulb. I used the freehand tool to create lines on the base of the light bulb. I then selected everything and grouped the selection. I selected my light bulb went to filters, then shadow and glow, and chose dark and glow. I created a textbox and used sans serif. I made the text bold and placed it in 64 font. I used the color blue because it invokes trust. I placed the light bulb at the center of the U (ideas at the center of education). I created a blue circle and placed it on top of the U and behind the light bulb to eliminate the white from the negative space behind the bulb. I created another layer and pushed it beneath my logo. I filled the layer with a different shade of blue and used the gradient tool to create a linear gradient. To finish my logo, I used Segoe Script to write "educational consulting". This gave the logo a little more flare to the already corporate feel of the logo.
